Intermediate BizDev Executive

YPYM Company · Jakarta, Indonesia · Full-time

Business Development B2B Cross-Sector Multilingual

About This Role

We are not looking for a person who only knows how to “open conversations.”

We are looking for someone who understands how business gets created, shaped, and closed without turning everything into empty networking, polite noise, or a parade of LinkedIn vocabulary.

This role is for someone who can think commercially, speak clearly, and move with intent.

If your default mode is waiting for a brief, waiting for approval, or waiting for someone else to define the opportunity, this role will not suit you.

The Work

You will help drive business development with a focus on quality of opportunity, not just quantity of outreach.

That means you are expected to understand how to identify the right target, frame the right conversation, and move the process forward with discipline. You should be comfortable handling business discussions that require judgment, structure, and patience.

We are not hiring someone to “sell harder.”

We are hiring someone who knows how to build trust, qualify properly, and pursue opportunities that actually matter.

What We Value

Experience matters. But relevant experience matters more.

We strongly prefer candidates who have spent at least 5 years in the same or a closely related business development environment.

Extra advantage if you have worked in:

  • Media
  • Financial services
  • B2B environments

These sectors matter because they tend to demand sharper commercial thinking, better relationship management, and stronger judgment. That is the kind of context we respect.

Language Advantage

Fluency in English is a strong advantage.

Fluency in Mandarin is also a strong advantage.

If you can work comfortably across markets, cultures, and decision-makers in more than one language, that is not a decoration. That is leverage.

International Exposure

If you have worked outside your home country for at least 2 years, your chances of moving faster in this process will be higher.

Not because foreign experience is automatically better. It is not.

But because international exposure often sharpens perspective, discipline, and your ability to operate across different business cultures without getting confused by them.

What You Should Bring

You should be able to:

  • Identify real business opportunities, not imagined ones
  • Speak to clients with clarity and calm
  • Qualify leads with logic, not hope
  • Understand the difference between interest and intent
  • Work across internal teams without creating unnecessary noise
  • Stay composed when the process gets complex
  • Push forward without becoming aggressive or sloppy

You Are Probably a Fit If

  • You have serious business development experience
  • You understand how to move a deal without forcing it
  • You can think commercially and communicate cleanly
  • You have worked in media, finance, or B2B
  • You are comfortable in English, and Mandarin is a plus
  • You have international exposure
  • You can handle ambiguity without panicking
  • You know when to speak, when to listen, and when to close

You Are Probably Not a Fit If

  • You need constant direction
  • You rely on charm without substance
  • You confuse activity with progress
  • You struggle to qualify opportunities properly
  • You need to be told what to do at every step
  • You are uncomfortable with direct feedback
  • You think being busy is the same as being effective

How to Apply

Send your CV and a short note to [email protected] explaining:

  1. What kind of business development work you have done
  2. Which sector you know best: media, finance, or B2B
  3. What kind of deals or relationships you have personally handled
  4. Whether you speak English or Mandarin, and at what level
  5. Whether you have worked abroad for at least 2 years

Keep it direct. We read for clarity, not decoration.
